How to Print Tabs 2 Years, 1 Month ago

Okay, so I know how to run tabs on their own through the 9110, and then how to make the machine pull those pre-printed tabs into the document - but how do I have it print the tabs at the same time as the rest of it? That is, so that the tabs don't have to be pre-printed, but are just done as the document goes? I tried several different things, including setting the document size a couple ways, but it doesn't ever quite work out right. Any ideas?

I believe that you will need a file that has multiple size pages for the tab and non tab stocks. The Printer driver should let you define the pages that are standard or on tab stock and the Paper size, color and weight exception. Les will be posting on this shortly after testing to make sure the information is exact. Hope this helps. TTYL

Hi Les here Dmt,
A note to printing tabs in a print job. and more!
First off you need to make sure the size of the paper for each page that is the Tab in the print job is 9x11.
second thing is program the 9110 draw to Tab and put the tabs in that draw, and the rest of the say 24# in the letter draws.
Now also thinking you have the kodak drivers or similar for the 9110 you go and print the job like normal and set the print preferences but in the window that is "Additional settings" there is a tab called "Page features".
Select this tab, now you need to know in the pdf which page numbers are the tabs .. eg 1-2, 5-6, 24-25...etc
Then you select the page range bullet and enter the first page of the tab eg:from page 1 to: 2 then select "ADD"
after that they will appear at the top - select all and then just below that you select exceptions and scroll down to "TAB"
Also make sure in this section you choose the first icon in the section icon called paper subsition(it shows you when you hold the mouse over it.
Once you have done this go update and it will add it to the list. You do this for each page and when it prints it looks for that paper in the 9110.
So you couls make the paper what ever you like as long as it matches the printer draw.
Note you can add the pager all at once by selecting "Pages"
and then adding them in a line like... 1-2,5-6,....etc
then you can do them all at once..
This page feature is good for lots of things and you can program it for lots of different papers all at once as long as you have enough draws!....
Happy printing !

Yep - that worked. I tried those things before, but maybe I just didn't have a clear head at the time. A couple notes to add though...
-If your document is 2-sided, you have to make sure the paper catalog file on the computer you're printing from has Tab paper set to "1,2 Sided" or else it won't work right (at least it didn't for me).
-I noticed printing from PDF (as is most common for us) selecting "Choose Paper Source by PDF Page Size" needed to be selected, or else the file was sent as all 8.5x11 pages and the tab text got erased before it ever got to the printer.
-I also had to correct a paper mismatch once it got into the que - had to tell it that the 8.5 was really 8.5 and not tab.
Other than that, we're now rocking some hardcore coallated tab printing. Thanks for the help!

Hi, if you have the size as 9x11 in the pdf for the tabs and with the text or what ever on that page then the file is right.
When you print the printer will pull that page from the tab draw and print on it, as long as you check in the printer setup in the "Page Features", the tab called " Layout" beside the " Exception" tab as that shows whether you want it to print 1 side or duplex..
So that must be set not to print on one side, Change that setting and it will print on one side or two.
Regards Les
